How to Make 2011 Your Greatest Year Ever

Thursday, December 9th, 2010

Brian_Tracy_GoalsIt all starts with setting goals.

… and I know what you’re probably thinking, “Oh noooooo, not goal setting again…”

Yep, goal setting.

Because unless you know where you’re headed, how in the world could you ever get there.

Think about it…

You decide to go on a vacation. What’s the first thing that you have to do? Decide where you’re going. Then, you can backtrack to where you are today and take the steps necessary to get there.

It’s the same thing when planning your life. You must first know where you’re going… so that you can break down the steps to get there and start moving in that direction.

Many people that set goals (a very small % of the population) choose the end of the year as a time to evaluate their lives and recommit to doing whatever it takes to get what they want.

So I thought I’d pass this video by ya where Brian Tracy walks you through a quick goal setting exercise. It’s less than 2 min so go ahead and check ‘er out…

Did you do the exercise?

If not, go ahead and do it now.

THIS is the starting point to all achievement. THIS is the starting point for your greatest year ever… 2011!

If you enjoyed this little segment, you should check out some of Brian Tracy’s other stuff. His books, CDs, and training programs have made a HUGE impact on my life.

My all-time favorite… his book, Maximum Achievement. A masterpiece!

When Disaster Strikes: Tough Lessons Learned From The Real Estate Trenches

Friday, October 1st, 2010

Real_Estate_Investing_MistakesI put together a special video for you with all the mistakes that I’ve made in my real estate investing biz over the years so that you can learn from them… and I’ve made some BIG ones.

It’s important to keep in mind that everyone, EVERYONE makes mistakes… doesn’t matter if you’re brand new to real estate investing or if you’re a seasoned veteran.

You’re going to make mistakes… period!

BUT, it’s how you respond, how you react, what you learn… that makes the difference.

I remember when my mentor said that when you’re actively investing in real estate over time… it’s not a matter of “if” someone will file a lawsuit against you (whether it’s a tenant, contractor, seller, lender, etc),  it’s a matter of “when”.

I read about a poll that was done at the end of the nineteenth century. People were asked, “If you were to get rich, become wealthy, how would you do it?”

The answer… build a business.

The same poll was conducted a hundred years later and the answer unfortunately was… sue someone.

… just goes to show how the mindset of the masses has shifted.

In real estate investing, when things go south, it can mean broken agreements, payments falling behind, liens, judgments, foreclosure, bankruptcy.

You’re undoubtedly heard many stories of hardship over the last few years… from huge multi-million and billion dollar real estate investment companies, developers, banks, mortgage companies…

… but regardless of the adversity faced, there are KEY lessons to be learned and leveraged into your next deal, your business, your personal life.

In the video below, I go in-depth explaining specifically the BIG mistakes I’ve made, how I’ve responded, how I’ve weathered the storm… and my hope is that you can experience these through me, learn from them, and avoid them in your own business and life.

This is a very PERSONAL video (and it’s also 25 minutes long)… but please, I urge you to watch this video NOW.

You know, whether you’re just getting started or whether you’re doing a HUGE volume of deals… you’re gonna make mistakes. Everyone does. And that’s ok.

If you’ve had an agreement go south or if you do in the future, don’t be surprised if someone yells “scam” or “lawsuit”! That’s unfortunately hard wired into the minds of the masses these days.

But, hang in there. Take the lessons from this video and apply them in your business, your life.

… and realize that sure… there’s a lot of risk investing in real estate. BUT, there’s also a lot of risk driving your car everyday.

When investing in real estate, take calculated risks. Educate yourself. Surround yourself with a team of experts. Do your due diligence. Learn from other investors. Do the best you can with what you’ve got.

As for me, I’m just gonna keep moving forward. No matter how long, how hard, I will persist until…

One of the Best Videos I’ve Seen This Year

Not sure about you… but I’m a BIG Tony Robbins fan and eat up everything he puts out.

Well, I was checking out his training blog recently and found a video that you’ve gotta watch. Seriously!

It’s free… and it’s going to help make everything “click” in your mind. So darn simple… but it’s gonna make a huge difference in the way you approach things… especially reaching your goals.

Just an FYI, it’s not about real estate at all… but I couldn’t not (like that double negative :-) send it to you because this is the #1 root of why most people don’t make it in real estate… and it’s an easy fix which Tony goes over.

And he’s spot on when he talks about what’s the difference between two people when they both get the same course, learn the same stuff, etc… and one makes it and one doesn’t. It’s not about potential, or resources, etc. He shows what it is in the diagram he scribbles out and how to make sure you’re the one who makes it.

Thought you’d enjoy it…

Susan_Lassiter_LyonsThis week, Susan Lassiter-Lyons – The $24 Million Dollar Woman – is bringing us our final segment, Part 8 of MustKnowInvesting.com’s “Best and Brightest Women in Real Estate Investing” series.

New to the series? Start w/ the introduction.

It’s been quite a ride so far… over 200 comments, over 200 people have shared it on Facebook, not to mention all the tweets.

And before we dive in today, just wanted to say “Thanks!” for your active participation in the series.

We – myself and all the “Best and Brightest” women – appreciate you :-)

Alrighty, now for our final segment  with Susan Lassiter-Lyons…

I’ve had the great pleasure to get to know Susan both personally and professionally over the last couple years. Susan joined the Private Money Blueprint faculty back in the fall of ‘08. And as many of your know, we had our Getting the Money Bootcamp this past June in Denver (her home town… which I LOVE by the way!).

And lemme tell ya, Susan knows her stuff! I’ve learned a TON from her.

Here’s a little background info…

Susan began investing in real estate in 1994 and owned a mortgage company for 7 years where she specialized in residential, commercial, and hard money financing for real estate investors. And get this… she’s participated in over 600 investment deals and since 2006 has raised over $24 million in private money for real estate syndicates.

Pretty incredible, ehhh?

Well, Susan’s about to tell you all about how she went from being a corporate drone to becoming The $24 Million Dollar Woman… and she’s gonna share her “secrets” of success.
