Rachel Hernandez – The Best and Brightest Women in Real Estate Investing

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Rachel_Hernandez

This week, Rachel Hernandez – aka Mobile Home Gurl – is bringing us Part 7 of our “Best and Brightest Women in Real Estate Investing” series.

New to the series? Start w/ the introduction.

Now, you may not have known this, but Rachel wasn’t always the “Mobile Home Gurl”. She actually got her start in single family homes and built up a sizable portfolio. But all was NOT well (as you’ll hear in her video below).

Here are a few things that you’re about to discover:

=> Why she chose to become an investor even though she NEVER thought she would be in real estate

=> The book that made things “click” and ultimately sent her on the path towards financial freedom

=> How a phone call to a local property owner turned into her first deal and a nice five figure profit

=> How she ironically went from profiting from burned-out landlords to becoming one herself

=> and Much More!

We’re all ears Rachel. Take it away…

Thanks Shae, glad you enjoyed it! I still remember when Steph first started doing video and then we told her we would be asking for video advice from her down the road. And, then you started with the video (that was great!) And, now look – we’re all doing video now! :)

    Good stuff..right up my alley

  • Mark

    Rachel,
Thanks so much for the insight! But I’M about to tell YOU something to enlighten you on the reason for your success…. Ready????? It’s your ATTITUDE!! Positive, but realistic; practical in it’s implementation when dealing with sellers and renters or purchasers, and your ability to be flexible. (Great for negotiations and when weathering out unexpected “storms”.) You got started by “getting out of your own way” and opening up your mind. Great video and hugs and appreciation from us, the ones who benefit.

Hey Rachael, I enjoyed the video and the tips. “build your business around yourself, not the other way around” Though, in the beginning stages, one might have no choice until they develop a system over time that works for them.

(Mark) Thanks Mark, glad you enjoyed it! Wow, great description of your evaluation for my success – very true and nicely worded, I like it! Thanks for stopping by! :)

(Esi) Glad you enjoyed the video, Esi! Yes, the reason why I say that is because there are many folks out there who try to emulate what others are doing and think it’s the “end all, be all.” Here’s the thing, we’re all different – we all have different personalities and ways of doing things. Since I’m not much of a techie person, if I tried to market and find deals via the Internet – I probably wouldn’t be very good. Though, I have heard those who focus on the Internet who have had success. It’s different for everyone. And, you’re right – it’s definitely a trial and error process in the beginning to see what works/what doesen’t work. Thanks for the note! :)

(Kris) Hmmm, that’s weird. I downloaded it and it works fine. Though, I’m on a mac. I used Quicktime to open it. And, I also tried to stream it through my Internet browser Safari – it works too. Since it’s in mp3 format, it should work with any standard program that plays mp3’s. I hope this helps, thanks for the note and for watching the video!

Thanks Patrick for helping Kris out with the audio download, I appreciate it! :)

I remember reading Rich Dad Poor Dad for the first time and having that “A-ha” moment where I realized that I wasn’t ever going to get to where I wanted to be while working for someone else. It was a real eye opener, for sure.

    Great job on the video!

Thanks Steph, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! Rich Dad, Poor Dad really did change the way I viewed things. Had I not read the book, things could have been different. Definitely glad I did, thanks for stopping by! :)
