How to Create Screen Capture Videos for Your REI Biz (Part 3)

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Real_Estate_Investing_Screen_Capture_VideoAlrighty, the series on using video in your real estate investing business continues …

If you’re new to it, here are the links to the first two posts:

Part 1 – Are You Using This Killer REI Marketing Tool?

Part 2 - Flip Video Tips for Real Estate Investors

Today, you’re about to learn how to use screen capture videos to get leads flowing into your biz and how you can get them done without spending a dime.

Don’t have a video camera? Can’t afford one right now?

No problemo.

You can be up and running, recording your own screen capture videos in less than 15 minutes (videos exactly like the one below).

Check ‘er out …

(if reading in email subscription, click here to watch the video)

Action Summary

1) Download Firefox

Firefox is a web browser like Internet Explorer. The reason that you need to download Firefox is because the free screen capture video tool is an add-on to Firefox.

If, for whatever reason, you don’t want to download Firefox, a great program that tons of people use is Camtasia. It costs some moolah but is a great program. They have a free 30 day trial you can download. So, you can use it free for a month if nothing else.

2) Download the Capture Fox Add-On

This tool is super easy to use (one of the main reasons I love it!). But, there’s not much functionality.

I’m ok with that though.

3) Shoot Your First REI Screen Capture Video

Once you’re done, post it online. And use the tips from Part 2 to maximize the reach and effectiveness of your videos.

This concludes our series on video marketing in your REI biz.

May your REI videos bring you many leads.

Hope you enjoyed :-)

Wow Patrick! I’ve been searching for an alternative to Camtasia to recommend to people other than the free Camstudio. I didn’t know that someone already made a Firefox add-on! Very cool! :)

I also use a add-on that’s great for partial or full length page screen shots! All you do is right mouse click on the page and it gives you options to save to disk or your clipboard. These are the options you have for capture:
“Complete Page/Frame,” “Visible Selection,” “Selection,” and “Window.”

    It’s called “ScreeGrab!”

Here’s the link to the add-on website. It’s totally awesome for making tutorials for your audience or just archiving web content for whatever purpose:

Thanks for sharing the awesome tip!

Great info! Was going to pay for Jing! Thanks!

  • Patrick Riddle

Thanks. Glad I could save you some moolah Ross. Jing may have much more functionality, but Capturefox gets the job done.

    Pat,

Once again , some great stuff! We all greatly appreciate the value you continue to bring, buddy. I am going to try the FF add-on.

Like we discussed and someone else mentioned here, Jing by Techsmith is another option. Been using the free version for about 9 mos now and I really enjoy the screen capture. There is also vid capture (5 min max) but I havent used it yet. For webcam recordings, you need the pro ($) version. Link below if anyone wants to learn more..

Thanks for the feedback Dave and for throwing out the other resource with Jing. I haven’t used them before but have heard them mentioned several times.

Glad you shared this. I didn’t know there was a free one like this. I have used Camtasia in the past as well. Lot’s of functionality that us REI people don’t really need.

  • Patrick Riddle

Yep, I agree with ya Eric. I don’t need tons of functionality … just need to get the job done. As far as technology goes, my motto is “The simpler the better.”

That’s why I like Capturefox and the Flip video camera.

Hello Patrick, my name is Derek Hernandez and we met in Orlando at a seminar you came to do with the local REIA.
I would like to thank you for everything you are doing. I have come back to the US from Australia where I am married with three teenage boys and one 21 yr old in Florida. i have left my wife and step sons to make a better life for us all. I have a mortgage in Florida which only leaves me $1200 month to live on which is very hard especially if you are running a business. I have a marketing budget that is soo small is is ridiculous. Regardless I will succeed and make it in Real Estate. It really hurts to talk about this because I am a retired Firefighter and before I retired I was doing very well but gave it up for my wife.
I just really want to Thank You for all the free info and products you put out there for people to use when most are working to sell the products to everyone and that is really what they are about. I have a dream of being a Billion dollar Philanthropist and I know I will make it someday. I promise that as i make money in real estate I will find those who are having challenges like myself and they are actively doing the things they need to do I will offer my mentorship in some capacity that they can use with out paying a huge price. Don’t get me wrong I understand that there are those who what something for nothing and then there are the small percentage who do all they can with what they have and need a little help to get over the first deal. Well anyway thanks for taking the time to read this and Thank you soo very much for all you do.

Hey Derek … I remember you from down in Orlando. Great to hear from you. And thanks so much for the kind words. I’m happy to do what I can to help.

Don’t worry about the small marketing budget. There are two things you can invest … money and time. If you don’t have much moolah, spend your time implementing low to no cost marketing strategies to get leads flowing in.

I love to hear big dreams. Persistence is what will get you there.

Keep the momentum moving forward Derek and let me know how I can help.

    Michael … you’re welcome.

Thomas … you’re welcome buddy. Let me know if you have any questions I can help with.

Wow! This is great to know…I have never created a screen capture video. I need to start implementing this to increase my leads. Thank you much Patrick.

    Hey Patrick,
nice blog you have going. I love screen capture. I also appreciate the tip above…i think it was Ryan who mentioned.
Granted, it’s not screen capture, but I can’t tell you what a flip cam has done for my real estate stuff. I use one for selling my properties, renting them, even contacting agents to potentially buy properties from them. VIDEO rocks. That’s cool you are showing REI’s how to do this stuff. I can’t begin to tell you how many people call my ads for houses and tell me they love the videos. What I also do is take my link from my blogs, and shorten it with bitly or tinyurl to place in the papers. Saves some classified add $$$. :)

I’ll have to stop back and visit more. Nice post.
